Favourite Memory of Legal Prac
I really enjoyed the collegiate nature of the Legal Prac Course – I formed life-long friends, consolidated university friends, but my favourite memory is the hike up Mount King William organised by the then director of the course, Hugh Murray!
Career Journey & Highlights
After admission in 2012, I spent a couple of great years with Page Seager in their commercial litigation team, before moving to London in 2015 “for two years”. More than ten years later I have still not come home!
In London I worked for Linklaters for a year, including a secondment to State Street Global Advisors, and spent the bulk of my free time travelling through Europe. In 2017 I relocated to Dublin, and have worked for two of the biggest firms in Ireland (Arthur Cox and A&L Goodbody respectively) in their litigation departments.
Current Role
My current role is with the regulatory investigations team at A&L Goodbody, where the team predominantly advises regulated entities in relation to investigations and disputes Ireland’s financial regulator. Most recently I have been heavily involved in advising large multinationals on EU sanctions matters arising out of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
Words of advice for those unsure about commencing the TLPC?
Having worked in several jurisdictions and worked with junior staff who have not had the benefit of undertaking the TLPC, I strongly recommend the practical training we get in this course – I certainly feel it has stood to my advantage over my peers abroad!
What would you tell your 2012 self?
“Two years” in Europe will not be enough!
