2026 Peter Dixon Memorial Prize

The Peter Dixon Memorial prize is awarded annually at the conclusion of the Tasmanian Legal Practice Course (TLPC) and is generously supported through funds provided by the Tasmanian Magistrates Association.

The prize was established in 2023 in recognition of the long association of former Magistrate Peter Dixon in all aspects of the TLPC and is awarded to a trainee or trainees who display qualities that Peter embodied throughout his distinguished legal career. Those qualities include collegiality, a willingness to support others and a demonstrated commitment to developing and improving legal skills.

This year the prize was awarded to Alice Buckmaster, who despite challenges, maintained a strong commitment to building her confidence and legal and advocacy skills, and demonstrated continued willingness to assist and support others throughout the TLPC. Alice completed the 2026 TLPC after graduating with a Bachelor of Laws with Deakin University and was admitted to practice on 7 August 2026 with her name placed on the roll of practitioners of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.

Congratulations Alice!
